Description
Christmas can be a really tricky time, especially for those living with diabetes, where every food and drink we eat affects our blood sugar and requires substantial thought and for those with T1 diabetes, insulin. Carb counting at Christmas, especially with all the events / snacks and carb filled treats can be a total disaster. I lived for many years by the mantra of “it’s just one day”, but it isn’t Christmas is a whole season. You only have to look in the shops at how early Christmas treats are hitting the shelves and we are swamped with temptation. So let me help, a little!
I appreciate that living in Cheltenham and running my cooking classes there doesn’t always suit everyone so hopefully doing this online will help!
What we will be making:
- smoked salmon blinis (can be made and frozen in advance of Christmas)
- sausage, sage and apple stuffing balls (can be made and frozen in advance of Christmas)
- mince pies with an all butter pastry (the pastry can also be used for sausage rolls)
- festive Yule log
An ingredients list will be sent out 2 weeks before the class so that you can get everything beforehand. There shouldn’t be anything too complicated that you wouldn’t find in your local supermarket or health food shop.
A PDF of recipes will be sent after the event.
If you are unable to join a separate video will be sent out after the event so you can watch and cook along at your leisure.
