Having followed a low carb lifestyle now for over 8 years, I have experienced so many positive benefits. From regulating my menstrual cycle, reversing background retinopathy and having two little girls. As a t1 diabetic I know how hard blood sugars can be to manage. Everything affects our control from the weather and hot showers to the time of the month and whether we are stressed. It is a fine balance.
Food plays a huge role in the management of blood sugar control (alongside insulin, if T1 diabetic). For many, making a reduction to the amount of starchy carbs consumed can make a huge difference. While at the same time, ensuring you are getting proteins, healthy fats, fibre and above all else, enjoying food. It is my job to make sure a lower carb lifestyle isn’t viewed as restrictive. Sometimes by just making a couple of small ingredient changes to your favourite meal, you can experience greater control to your blood sugars. For many people I have helped, a lower carb lifestyle has benefited them in many ways. To name a few:
less insulin resistance
more regular periods
less brain fog
feeling more energised and positive
more control of blood glucose
a reduction in HBA1C
T2 diabetes remission
Over the years I have spoken to thousands of people through talks, festivals, charity events, cooking classes and directly through my computer screen.
