Introducing Our Beautiful Baby Girl.

Introducing Our Beautiful Baby Girl.

I know I haven’t posted in a while, but I promise I have a good excuse. On 10th August 2016 our beautiful baby girl, Florence Rose, entered the world very calmly via a planned C Section (at 38 weeks gestation). As you will all know from my previous posts, I had always focused on having a natural birth- but as I always said, all that mattered at the end of the day was that my beautiful girl, and I were safe and if this meant that a natural birth wasn’t to be then I certainly wasn’t going to dwell on it. I never (intentionally) had a birth plan as I didn’t want to set my hopes on something that might not have happened.

There’s a long story as to why I ended up having a c section- and it was a huge and very hard decision that was ultimately left up to me (and Ports), but in the end it was the best best choice I could have made as it all went seamlessly and I now have the most gorgeously healthy little bundle who I / we love beyond words.

She’s been absolutely perfect and it still all feels like a bit of a dream, I can’t even begin to put in to words how lucky I feel to be writing this post and sharing the good news with you all. We’ve been thoroughly enjoying our time as a new family, getting to know our little girl and allowing myself time to heal. Throughout my 4 day stay in hospital I had full control of my insulin pump before, during and after delivery and my sugars were very stable throughout.

I will of course post my other weeks “pregnancy” updates and will post a birth story etc very soon so keep an eye out. In the mean time, Florence’s doing well, we had a couple of initial weight issues as she lost over 12% of her birth weight very quickly but luckily due to lots and lots (and lots and lots) of breast-feeding and pumping (yes, I am now a machine), she is slowly but surely putting the weight back on and we are enjoying every second of being a mummy and daddy.

Finally, what I do want to say is that having Type One Diabetes didn’t hold me back once throughout my pregnancy or through the birth of my baby. Having heard and read so many horror stories I was, of course, apprehensive about being pregnant and having a healthy baby at the end it. If anything, I really hope that my story is proof that it is possible to maintain good blood sugar control, enjoy pregnancy and be rewarded with the greatest gift of all, a happy, healthy baby. Never ever let diabetes control you, you control it!

Thank you again for all your support throughout my pregnancy, your messages, emails, likes and shares have meant the world. Speak again very soon.

  • CONGRATULATIONS!

What a cute little baby girl! We had a similar experience when our daughter was born, losing weight, etc. but she and her Mom came through like champs and our little girl is way ahead of the curve when it comes to crawling, standing (with help), and being active.

If this is your first, like it is for us, my free, unsolicited advice to your husband (and you of course) is start baby-proofing everything RIGHT.NOW. Bolt things down/to the wall, move cords, get cabinets and drawers squared away.

Once she starts moving under her own power (and it will be here before you knows it), you’ll be glad you did.

God bless your beautiful little family!

  • Congratulations in this Beauty!!! I fully understand You being overwhelmed by this magical feeling (Crying Again…. My Little one just Turned 2 a few days ago….) so enjoy These days of cuddles And bonding And Love…. ❤️
