A chocoholics dream: dairy-free chocolate milk

A chocoholics dream: dairy-free chocolate milk

This is for all the chocoholics out there who want a chocolaty pick-me-up that has half the calories and none of the fat, additives or sugar. With added health benefits of high fibre, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, this drink is creamy, filling and gives you all the buzzy endorphins and more of any chocolate treat. One glass makes such little impact on my blood glucose levels that I usually only have to give myself 1 unit- which is incredible. Perfect for this warm weather any time day or night, I always finish the glass off with a sprinkling of raw cacao and a few ice cubes if I have them.

  • Drink straight away (add a couple of ice cubes for extra chill factor)

Where do I buy my products from ?

I get asked a lot where I buy my more unusual ingredients from. Living in London I am fortunate enough to have lots of health food shops on my door step. My most favourite is Wholefoods- although I’m not going to lie, this comes with a pretty hefty price tag. I do find though that the ingredients I buy last for a long time so spending a bit more for good products is worth it.

Cacao: I buy my raw cacao from Whole Foods – from the brand The Raw Chocolate Company range. It’s about £4.99 for a 200g pack which lasts a very long time

Medjool dates: Medjool dates are probably one of the most expensive of the date family but they are also the best to bake with and most tasty. You can buy them from most supermarkets such as  Sainsbury’s

Cacao nibs: I buy my cacao nibs from Whole Foods by a brand called Of The Earth Superfoods, they are about £8 for 180g. I bought one bag about 6 months ago and am only 1/3 way through

Almonds: I use almonds as regularly as I do coconut oil, macadamia nuts and eggs, it’s a staple in my diet so I can literally go through bags of them a week. My favourite almonds are the “raw organic almonds’ from Wholefoods, but these are more of a treat as they are very expensive. However, a friend recently suggested this website where you can get 1kg almonds for £9.99 which seems like a great price

I hope to create a longer “shopping” list of products which I will keep adding to as the weeks go by. This will then be displayed on one of the main tabs. If there’s anything specific you would like me to add-on, please let me know and I will do so!
